Britney Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline has congratulated his former wife on her engagement and given his blessing as she makes plans to wed Jason Trawick.

The singer's agent-turned-boyfriend proposed last week and Spears confirmed the happy news in a post on Twitter, calling Trawick her "new fiancé."

Federline, who fathered two sons with the star before their divorce in 2007, has now sent his best wishes to the happy couple.

He tells Australia's TV Week magazine, "I'm really happy for her - I think he's a great guy."

The former dancer, who is currently appearing in Australian weight-loss TV show Excess Baggage, adds, "She's happy; she's doing really well. I want to say she's in a good place.

"I haven't spoken to her much since I've been over here (in Australia), both of us have been busy with her being on tour, but I do know from talking to the kids and talking to the kids' teachers that they're doing really good. It's a good step in the right direction. I'm totally happy for her."

An American Airlines official has blasted Alec Baldwin for his inappropriate behavior onboard a New York-bound flight on Tuesday, insisting the actor was "extremely rude to the crew" before he was ultimately ejected for disobeying company policy.

Baldwin was kicked off a plane at LAX Airport in Los Angeles when he reportedly refused to cease playing a wordplay game on a smart phone as the pilot prepared for take-off.

American Airlines bosses declined to comment on the incident on Tuesday, but they are breaking their silence now - a rep for the firm has released a statement in a bid to set the record straight after Baldwin took to Twitter.com to express his outrage and pledge never to fly American again.

The statement reads: "Since an extremely vocal customer has publicly identified himself as being removed from an American Airlines flight on Tuesday, Dec. 6, we have elected to provide the actual facts of the matter as well as the FAA regulations which American, and all airlines, must enforce.

"Cell phones and electronic devices are allowed to be used while the aircraft is at the gate and the door is open for boarding. When the door is closed for departure and the seatbelt light is turned on, all cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off for taxi-out and take-off.

"This passenger declined to turn off his cell phone when asked to do so at the appropriate time. The passenger ultimately stood up (with the seat belt light still on for departure) and took his phone into the plane's lavatory. He slammed the lavatory door so hard, the cockpit crew heard it and became alarmed, even with the cockpit door closed and locked.

"They immediately contacted the cabin crew to check on the situation. The passenger was extremely rude to the crew, calling them inappropriate names and using offensive language. Given the facts above, the passenger was removed from the flight and denied boarding."

The actor and avid Twitter fan deactivated his social networking account after posting scathing remarks about the airline following the incident.

Meanwhile, American Airlines officials are considering filing a complaint with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). If that happens, a regulatory committee will investigate the incident and may choose to fine Baldwin.

Usher gave a songwriter friend a very special birthday present over the weekend by handing over one of his coveted Grammy Awards.

The R&B star attended a party in honor of writer/producer Rico Love's 29th birthday in Miami, Florida on Friday and he surprised his pal during the bash with a special dedication, according to the New York Post.

Usher addressed party guests, including fellow singer Mary J. Blige and actress Gabrielle Union, and told the crowd, "What do you buy or give someone that can buy or give himself anything?... So, I wanted to be the first person to present him with something out of the ordinary."

The star then handed Love the trophy he won at this year's Grammy Awards for his song "There Goes My Baby," which was written and co-produced by his friend.
